Easter Trip to Morocco: Best 10-Day Itinerary

Looking for somewhere different for your Easter holiday? Morocco is one of the best destinations for a 10-day Easter trip, combining ancient cities, spectacular mountains, the Sahara Desert, traditional villages and unforgettable cultural experiences in a single journey.

Spring is also a wonderful time to discover the country. Marrakech comes alive with warm days, the landscapes around the Atlas Mountains are particularly beautiful, and the temperatures are generally much more comfortable for sightseeing than during the hottest summer months.

With ten days, you have enough time to experience much more than Marrakech.

You can wander through the medieval medina of Fes, cross the High Atlas Mountains, visit ancient kasbahs, sleep beneath the stars in the Sahara Desert, ride camels across the dunes of Erg Chebbi and discover the blue streets of Chefchaouen.

But there is one challenge:

Morocco is much bigger than many first-time visitors expect.

Trying to plan all of these destinations independently can quickly turn into a complicated combination of hotels, transfers, buses, trains, desert excursions and long travel days.

That is why a private Morocco tour can be one of the easiest ways to make the most of a 10-day Easter holiday.

At Morocco Nomadic Tours, we organize private and tailor-made journeys throughout Morocco. Below, we have created one of our favorite 10-day Morocco itineraries for Easter, combining the country’s imperial cities, Sahara Desert and most iconic landscapes.

Is Easter a Good Time to Visit Morocco?

Yes. Easter falls during one of the most attractive periods for travelling around Morocco.

Spring generally offers a pleasant balance for travelers who want to combine cities, mountains and desert in the same trip. Marrakech and Fes are excellent for exploring on foot, while travelling through the Atlas Mountains gives you the opportunity to see a completely different side of the country.

The desert is another major reason to consider Morocco for Easter.

During the summer, temperatures in southern Morocco can become extremely high. Spring is generally much more suitable for exploring the dunes, taking a camel ride and enjoying your desert camp.

It is also an excellent period for families travelling during the school Easter holidays.

There is, however, something important to remember:

Easter is a popular travel period.

The best riads, private desert camps and higher-category hotels can fill up, particularly around the main European school holiday dates.

If you already know you would like to spend Easter in Morocco, arranging your private tour several months ahead gives you a much better selection of accommodation.

The Best 10-Day Morocco Easter Itinerary

For first-time visitors who want to experience as much of Morocco as possible without turning the entire vacation into a race, we recommend combining Casablanca, Rabat, Chefchaouen, Fes, Merzouga, the Dades Valley, Aït Ben Haddou and Marrakech.

Here is what the journey could look like.

Day 1: Arrival in Casablanca – Rabat

Casablanca → Rabat

Welcome to Morocco! After arriving at Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport, your private driver will meet you and your Morocco journey begins.

Depending on your arrival time, you can visit Casablanca’s impressive Hassan II Mosque before continuing north toward Rabat. Rabat is Morocco’s capital and makes a relaxed introduction to the country.

Depending on the time available, you can explore highlights such as the Hassan Tower, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V and the picturesque Kasbah of the Udayas. You will then check into your accommodation and have time to relax after your flight.

One of the advantages of travelling privately with Morocco Nomadic Tours is that your first day can be adapted to your actual arrival time. If you arrive later in the day, we simply adjust the sightseeing rather than rushing you immediately after a long international flight.

Overnight: Rabat

Day 2: Rabat – Chefchaouen

Rabat → Chefchaouen

After breakfast, your private driver will take you north toward one of Morocco’s most photographed destinations: ChefchaouenHidden in the Rif Mountains, Chefchaouen is famous for its blue-painted medina. But photographs only tell part of the story.

Once you arrive, take your time wandering through narrow blue streets, small squares and local shops. Stop for Moroccan mint tea, explore the medina and enjoy the slower atmosphere that makes Chefchaouen so different from Morocco’s larger imperial cities. Because this is a private tour, there is no large group waiting for you to return to a bus.

You can explore at your own pace. As the afternoon turns into evening, the blue tones of the medina change with the light, making this a particularly beautiful time for photographs.

Overnight: Chefchaouen

Day 3: Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Meknes – Fes

Chefchaouen → Volubilis → Meknes → Fes

After breakfast, continue south toward Fes. But today is not simply a transfer day. Along the route, you can discover Volubilis, one of Morocco’s most important archaeological sites and a fascinating reminder of the country’s Roman history.

From there, continue toward Meknes, one of Morocco’s four imperial cities. Depending on your pace and interests, you can stop to discover some of its historic highlights before continuing toward Fes. By evening, you arrive in one of the most extraordinary cities in Morocco.

Fes feels completely different from Casablanca, Rabat or Chefchaouen. Tomorrow, you will understand why.

Overnight: Fes

Day 4: Full-Day Guided Tour of Fes

After breakfast, meet your local guide and begin discovering Fes, Morocco’s cultural and spiritual heart. The old medina, Fes el-Bali, is one of the world’s great historic urban experiences. Its maze of alleys contains traditional workshops, markets, fountains, mosques, madrasas, bakeries and centuries-old buildings.

Walking through Fes without understanding what surrounds you means missing much of what makes the city special. That is why we recommend exploring it with a knowledgeable local guide.

Your sightseeing can include highlights such as the famous tanneries, traditional artisan quarters, historic madrasas, souks and panoramic viewpoints. There will also be time to experience the atmosphere rather than simply checking monuments off a list. After your tour, return to your riad and enjoy the evening at leisure.

Overnight: Fes

Day 5: Fes – Ifrane – Cedar Forest – Ziz Valley – Merzouga

Fes → Ifrane → Middle Atlas → Ziz Valley → Merzouga Sahara Desert

Today is one of the great road trips of your Morocco Easter holiday. Leave Fes after breakfast and travel south through the Middle Atlas Mountains. Your first stops can include Ifrane, known for its distinctive alpine-style architecture, followed by the cedar forests around Azrou, where Barbary macaques can often be seen.

The scenery continues changing as you travel south. Green mountain landscapes gradually give way to rocky plateaus, palm-filled valleys and the dramatic landscapes of southeastern Morocco.

You will travel through the beautiful Ziz Valley before continuing toward Merzouga. And then something happens that many travelers remember forever. The dunes appear. Rising dramatically from the surrounding landscape, the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi mark your arrival at the Sahara Desert. From here, your desert experience begins.

Depending on your selected itinerary and arrival time, you will ride a camel into the dunes toward your desert camp. Watch the sun descend across the Sahara before enjoying dinner and traditional Berber music at the camp. Then look up. Far away from the lights of Morocco’s cities, the desert night sky can be extraordinary.

Overnight: Private desert camp in Merzouga

Day 6: Sahara Desert Experience

One night in the desert is memorable. But if your schedule allows, two nights in the Merzouga area can completely change the experienceInstead of arriving one evening and leaving again the following morning, you have time to discover the desert beyond the camel ride.

Wake early if you would like to watch the sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast, spend the day exploring the Merzouga region. Depending on your itinerary, the day can include visits around the dunes, traditional villages, nomadic families or the village of Khamlia, known for its Gnawa musical traditions.

You can also simply enjoy having time in the desert. Try sandboarding. Walk across the dunes. Take photographs. Relax. Or add an optional quad or 4×4 experience for a little more adventure. At Morocco Nomadic Tours, we can adapt the desert day depending on whether you are travelling as a couple, family, group of friends or on a special celebration.

For many of our guests, slowing the itinerary down here becomes one of the best decisions of the trip.

Overnight: Merzouga area

Day 7: Merzouga – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley

Merzouga → Rissani → Todra Gorges → Dades Valley

After breakfast, leave the Sahara and travel toward another completely different Moroccan landscape. Depending on the day and itinerary, you can pass through the area around Rissani before continuing toward Todra Gorge.

The enormous rock walls of the Todra Gorges create one of southern Morocco’s most impressive natural landscapes. Take some time to walk through the gorge before continuing toward the Dades Valley. The drive itself is beautiful, passing traditional villages, palm groves and dramatic rock formations.

By late afternoon, arrive at your hotel or traditional accommodation in the Dades region. After several nights in Morocco’s cities and desert, the quiet of the valley offers another change of atmosphere. Enjoy dinner and a relaxing evening surrounded by the landscapes of southern Morocco.

Overnight: Dades Valley

Day 8: Dades Valley – Ouarzazate – Aït Ben Haddou – Marrakech

Dades Valley → Ouarzazate → Aït Ben Haddou → High Atlas Mountains → Marrakech

Today you travel from southern Morocco to Marrakech. After breakfast, continue through the Valley of Roses and toward Ouarzazate, often called the gateway to the Sahara. The highlight of the day is Aït Ben Haddou, one of Morocco’s most recognizable fortified villages.

Its earthen architecture and dramatic setting have made it one of the country’s most famous landmarks and a filming location for numerous international productions. Take time to explore the ksar before continuing toward Marrakech. The journey then takes you across the High Atlas Mountains.

Rather than treating this as simply a long drive, travelling privately allows you to stop at panoramic viewpoints and enjoy the changing mountain scenery along the way. By evening, you descend toward Marrakech.

After the silence of the Sahara and Dades Valley, arriving in Marrakech feels like entering another world.

Overnight: Marrakech

Day 9: Private Guided Tour of Marrakech

No 10-day Morocco itinerary would be complete without Marrakech. After breakfast, discover the Red City with a local guide. Marrakech is colorful, chaotic, historic and endlessly fascinating.

Depending on your interests and chosen itinerary, your tour can include some of the city’s most famous attractions, such as Bahia Palace, Ben Youssef Madrasa, the souks and the historic medina.

You may also wish to visit Jardin Majorelle, although advance reservations are strongly recommended during busy travel periods. But Marrakech is not only about monuments. Some of its best moments happen between them. The smell of spices. Artisans working inside tiny workshops. Hidden courtyards behind unassuming doors. Rooftop terraces overlooking the medina. And, of course, Jemaa el-Fna.

As evening arrives, the famous square transforms with food stalls, performers and crowds gathering beneath the lights. After nine days crossing Morocco, spend your final evening enjoying Marrakech at your own pace.

Overnight: Marrakech

Day 10: Marrakech – Departure

Enjoy your final Moroccan breakfast. Depending on your flight time, you may have a few additional hours to explore Marrakech, purchase last-minute souvenirs or simply relax at your riad. Your private driver will then collect you for the transfer to Marrakech Menara Airport.

Your 10-day Morocco Easter journey comes to an end, although for many travelers, the first trip to Morocco simply creates ideas for the next one.

Why This 10-Day Morocco Itinerary Works So Well

The biggest mistake when planning ten days in Morocco is assuming that ten days means ten destinations.

It does not.

A good itinerary is about creating a journey that flows naturally. This route works particularly well because every few days introduces a completely different side of Morocco. You begin with the Atlantic side of the country in Casablanca and Rabat. Then come the Rif Mountains and blue streets of Chefchaouen.

Fes introduces you to Morocco’s historic and cultural heart. The journey south takes you across the Middle Atlas and into the Sahara. From there, you travel through gorges, valleys and kasbahs before crossing the High Atlas into Marrakech.

Instead of seeing one version of Morocco, you experience several. And because Morocco Nomadic Tours specializes in private tours, the route can be changed. If Chefchaouen is not important to you, we can use that time elsewhere.

Want an extra night in the Sahara? We can adjust the route. Want more luxury accommodation?

We can upgrade your hotel category. Travelling with children and want shorter driving days? Tell us. Your itinerary should work for you.

Why Choose a Private Morocco Tour for Easter?

Easter is valuable vacation time.

If you only have ten days, spending hours working out transportation after arriving in Morocco is probably not how you imagined using them.

A private tour makes the journey considerably easier.

Your driver collects you.

Your route is already planned.

Your hotels and riads are reserved.

Your desert experience is arranged.

Your luggage stays with you as you travel across the country.

And when you see somewhere beautiful along the road, you can stop.

This last point makes a surprisingly big difference.

A private Morocco tour is not simply about having a private vehicle.

It is about having control over your vacation.

If you want an extra photo stop in the Atlas Mountains, you can make one.

If you need coffee, stop.

If you are travelling with children and everyone needs a break, take one.

If there is a planned stop that does not interest you, continue.

You are not travelling according to the needs of 30 other passengers.

With Morocco Nomadic Tours, the journey is private for you and your travel companions.

Is Morocco Good for a Family Easter Holiday?

Morocco can be an excellent Easter destination for families, particularly those who want something more adventurous than a traditional beach vacation.

Children and teenagers often particularly enjoy the Sahara.

Camel riding, sandboarding, sleeping in a desert tent and exploring the dunes turn the journey into an experience rather than a traditional sightseeing holiday.

Private transportation is also especially convenient for families.

You have your own space and can stop when necessary instead of following a group schedule.

If you are travelling with children, tell us their ages when requesting your itinerary. We can suggest a route and pace that works better for your family.

What Should You Pack for Morocco at Easter?

The key is layers. Spring temperatures can vary considerably depending on where you are. Marrakech may feel warm during the day, while mornings, evenings, mountain regions and the Sahara after sunset can feel considerably cooler.

Comfortable walking shoes are essential because places such as Fes, Chefchaouen, Marrakech and Aït Ben Haddou are best explored on foot. We also recommend bringing sun protection, sunglasses and something warmer for evenings.

The most important thing is not to pack as though Morocco has one climate. During this itinerary you travel from the Atlantic coast through mountain regions and all the way to the Sahara. That variety is part of what makes the journey so special.

Should You Book Your Morocco Easter Trip Early?

We recommend it.

Easter coincides with school holidays in several countries, making it a popular period for international travel.

Morocco has thousands of hotels, but the best small riads and high-quality desert camps have limited rooms and tents.

This matters particularly if you are travelling as a family or larger group requiring several rooms.

Booking early gives us more flexibility when selecting accommodation that fits your preferences.

If you are travelling over Easter and already know your dates, there is little advantage in waiting until the last minute.

Frequently Asked Questions About Easter in Morocco

Is Morocco open during Easter?

Yes. Easter is not a national holiday in Morocco, so attractions, restaurants, hotels and tourism services generally continue operating normally. For international visitors, this makes Morocco particularly convenient for an Easter getaway.

How many days do you need for Morocco?

For first-time visitors who want to combine the imperial cities and Sahara Desert, 10 days is an excellent starting point. Seven days is possible for a more focused itinerary, while 12 to 14 days allows for a slower journey and additional destinations.

Can you visit the Sahara on a 10-day Morocco trip?

Absolutely. Ten days gives you enough time to incorporate the Sahara into a broader Morocco itinerary without making it only a desert trip.

For the classic high dunes most travelers imagine when thinking about the Sahara, we recommend travelling to Merzouga and Erg Chebbi.

Is the Morocco Nomadic Tours itinerary private?

Yes. Our tours are private. You travel with your own driver and vehicle rather than joining a large group tour.

This also means we can customize the itinerary before your arrival.

Can we change this 10-day itinerary?

Of course.

This itinerary is a recommendation, not a fixed requirement.

We can change the starting city, ending city, accommodation category and destinations according to your flights and preferences.

For example, we can create a 10-day Morocco itinerary from Marrakech, start your tour in Casablanca and finish in Marrakech, or adapt the route if your return flight departs from Casablanca or Fes.

Can you arrange luxury accommodation?
Yes. Morocco Nomadic Tours can organize different accommodation categories, including comfortable traditional riads, four-star options and luxury hotels and desert camps.

You can also combine categories.

For example, you may prefer comfortable riads throughout most of the journey but want to upgrade your Sahara stay to a more luxurious desert camp.

Are meals included?

Breakfasts are normally included throughout our multi-day tours, with selected dinners depending on the itinerary and accommodation.

Lunches and beverages are generally not included, giving you the flexibility to choose where and what you would like to eat during the day.

Your individual proposal will clearly specify which meals are included.

Is a camel ride included in the Sahara?

On our standard Sahara itineraries, a camel ride is included as part of the desert experience.

If you would prefer not to ride a camel, let us know. We can discuss alternative arrangements depending on your itinerary.

Can we book if we are travelling with children?

Yes. We regularly create private Morocco itineraries for families.

Tell us how many adults and children are travelling, together with the children’s ages, so we can recommend the most appropriate route.

How do we get a price for this 10-day Morocco tour?

Because our tours are private, the price depends on several factors, including the number of travelers, travel dates, accommodation category and any additional experiences you would like to include.

Send us your Easter travel dates, number of travelers and preferred accommodation level, and we can prepare a personalized itinerary and quotation.

Make This Easter Different

There are Easter holidays you enjoy. And then there are journeys you still talk about years later.

Imagine beginning your vacation beside the Atlantic, walking through Chefchaouen’s blue medina a few days later and then watching the sun disappear behind the Sahara dunes. A few mornings later, you are crossing the High Atlas Mountains.

And by evening, you are sitting on a rooftop in Marrakech. That is what makes Morocco so special.

You do not need to choose between culture and adventure, cities and nature, comfort and discovery.

You can experience all of them in one journey. And you do not have to organize it alone.
